BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There is now a 70-percent chance that Tropical Depression #3 forms east of Florida within the next seven days. That’s the Saturday afternoon advisory from the National Hurricane Center which is monitoring a tropical wave which rolled off the coast of Africa earlier this week.
The NHC’s new seven day forecasting model keeps the “oval” in a region that may — or may not — indicate and eventual track towards the eastern seaboard of the United States. The red oval indicates where a system may form, not necessarily a path of travel.
This is the Saturday afternoon advisory from the National Hurricane Center: “For the North Atlantic… Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: 1. Eastern Tropical Atlantic (AL92): A tropical wave located several hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression is likely to form by the early to middle portion of next week while the system moves westward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
Formation chance through 48 hours…medium…50 percent. Formation chance through 7 days…high…70 percent.
The next name for a storm is “Bret.” Arlene briefly existed earlier in the hurricane season.
