UPDATE: The Bible will remain accessible in the Palm Beach County School District, following discussion by the Palm Beach County School Board.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Apparently taking a swipe at the craziness of groups like “Moms For Liberty” who cry for parental freedom while actually taking it away, a Boca Raton Rabbi is calling on the Palm Beach County School Board to ban the Bible from at least Olympic Heights High School. The request was initially denied by the Principal of Olympic Heights and then the Superintendent of Schools.

Rabbi Barry Silver, in a more than 50-page document which you can read through the link below, says the Bible should be banned — or at least restricted — since it includes depreciation of rape, incest, and violence. When asked to state the publisher, the Rabbi wrote: “many publishers in many languages.”

When asked about the objections, Rabbi Silver wrote: “Misogyny, violence, gendered, sexual content, rape, incest, animal cruelty, abuse, Anti-Semitism, Anti-Science,” and in a word made popular by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, “indoctrination.”

When asked about the strengths of the material, Rabbi Silver wrote: “(when) read rationally, and not literally, it has the potential to transform lives and create a better world.”

The Palm Beach County School Board is expected to take up the issue of the Bible during a meeting on Wednesday. Read the request here.
