DISNEY RUDETON: Tesla Takes EV Charging Spot, Doesn’t Charge Car

EV Charging Disney

At The Swan Reserve Hotel At Disney, Don’t Plan To Charge Your EV. Cars That Aren’t Charging, Or Even Electric, Take All Of The Spaces.

EV Charging Disney
This Tesla EV with Florida plate L8NLC spent at least eight hours in an EV charging spot at the Swan Reserve hotel, but didn’t charge. There are just a handful of charging locations around the entire Disney resort in Orlando.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The expanded version of Boca Rudeton today takes us to the Swan Reserve hotel at Disney World in Orlando where charging spaces for electric vehicles are still surprisingly few and far between. Disney is a company that wants you to think is always planning for the future and cares about the environment. We note that Spaceship Earth — the ride inside the gigantic ball at EPCOT — still talks about a future where people have PDA’s (personal digital assistants!) that can connect to work, and despite calls for environmentalism, there are just a handful of EV chargers across the entire Disney resort. The carousel of progress moves slowly.

For the driver of a Tesla with Florida license plate L8NLC, none of this seems to matter. The only thing that matters for this driver standing in the way of others having a magical day is that he or she saw a spot that said “EV Charging Only” and decided to take it, even though he or she had no interest in charging. The vehicle, not connected to one of just four ChargePoint chargers, spent at least eight hours in the spot. The problem: it blocks people who legitimately want to charge their vehicles.

While definitely a problem for Marriott which manages the Swan Reserve property where these charges are installed, it’s also a problem for Disney — which clearly needs to communicate expectations to franchisees that operate under the Disney flag. It sends a very poor message to visitors who drive any brand of electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid that there’s no monitoring of who is using the spaces designed to charge these cars.

To the driver of the white Tesla with Florida plate L8NLC, you are our Boca Rudeton winner of the day — even in Orlando. Your prize? A lifelong ban on lightning lane entrances. Yes, if we are ever given the power to make this happen, we will sentence you to a lifetime of three hour lines to spend 30 seconds having your photo taken with Moana. Once the photo is taken, you go back in line to do it again. We know how far you’ll go.

It seems as though, the charging stations know: Who you are, How to bill you for the charging, & your Email or Text number.
So why don’t the charging stations send out a time is up/charging is completed message?
They do it with the e-pay parking meters.
And they can add an Exorbitant overtime parking fine.
Seems to be a failure of the charging station designers, not the public. I’m just saying .

The issue here is that the Tesla never plugged in. Just took the spot.

Not all motorists with Miami Heat license plates are terrible drivers, but almost ever other terrible drive I encounter has that custom license plate. Also, removal of the model number emblems and/or painting them matte black.

Such a shame that we have folks whose sense of entitlement has no bounds! Taking a charging station space with no intent on using it is the height of selfish entitlement which still amazes me. Letting the air out of a few of their tires would’ve been o k, but letting the air out of all four would’ve definitely left an unforgettable message…and would’ve been quite funny.
As they say, “karma is a bitch”, one day, hopefully sooner than later, these jerks will be taught a lesson about entitlement in a similar fashion! Shame on these folks!
