BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — While there is no credible threat currently being discussed by law enforcement in South Palm Beach County, law enforcement sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that there is a general hope that anyone celebrating Halloween will skip costumes that involve Israel, Hamas, the Israeli Defense Force, and anything that could lead to violence.
“We want people to have fun,” said a source, “but we need people to consider the world in which we live. It’s one thing to have pride, it’s something else to purposely wear a costume or take part in activity that is solely designed to get a reaction. You may not like the reaction. We see people move here all the time who believe they live in a bubble. They don’t.”
Among the concerns: IDF or Israel Defense T-Shirts, somewhat ubiquitous in and around Palm Beach County where a recent Brandeis study says the Jewish Population tops 166,000 people. Also of concern: dressing as a Rabbi, Benjamin Netenyahu, a Hamas terrorist, or other controversial figures.
Police will have increased patrols across Palm Beach County and its individual municipalities on Halloween night. Law enforcement also reminds adults that driving a golf cart while drinking is still drinking and driving — even in a private community. You can be stopped and arrested, even if you’re shuttling little ghouls and goblins while enjoying a cold one. In fact, you can be charged with an enhanced DUI if kids are in your vehicle.
