BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We are in the final month of the 2023 hurricane season but that apparently doesn’t mean a slow-down. A system south of Florida has a 60-percent chance of developing over the next seven days. The long-range path remains unclear. We remind our readers that this oval — or in this case, oddly shaped orange thing, shows where a system may form but NOT necessarily a direction of travel.
The following is the Wednesday morning update from the National Hurricane Center.
Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 200 AM EDT Wed Nov 1 2023
For the North Atlantic… Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. Central Caribbean Sea (AL97): Shower and thunderstorm activity remains disorganized in association with a trough of low pressure over the central Caribbean Sea. Environmental conditions are forecast to become slightly more conducive for development in a couple of days, and a tropical depression could form during the latter part of this week while moving generally westward over the central and southwestern Caribbean Sea. Regardless of development, this system has the potential to produce heavy rains over portions of Central America late this week and into the weekend. * Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days…medium…60 percent.
