DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The senior living community of Kings Point in Delray Beach is suing a property owner who allegedly owes several thousand dollars in unpaid dues and fees. Specifically, The Burgundy C condo association is suing John Garcia. Garcia owns a unit, according to the complaint, and has been running a past-due balance since April of 2021. The amount now owed: $7,269.67.

The lawsuit against Garcia is the latest example of a condominium association or homeowners association in Palm Beach County. HOA’s in Florida have broad powers to assess fees and demand payment. Homeowners agree to abide by HOA rules when they purchase a home or condominium.

In the Kings Point matter, attorneys say that Garcia owes monthly maintenance fees of roughly $500 that have accumulated since July of 2021. Interest that has accrued through June of 2023. Late fees. Certified mail fees. Non-sufficient fund fees. Attorney fees. Management company fees. And more.

The suit was filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The unit was purchased in 2020 for $83,000.
