BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major crash Friday has closed I-95 northbound in Broward County. The closure is causing massive traffic delays. Those delays could continue well into the morning. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is impacted — the closure is south of I-595.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. At least one person is dead. We have learned fire immediately followed impact. This is the official incident alert from the Florida Department of Transportation:
“Multi-vehicle crash in Broward County on I-95 North, at Exit 25: SR-84/SW 24th St/Marina Mile Blvd, and traffic backed up to Exit 22: SR-848/Stirling Rd. All lanes closed. Last updated at 09:16 AM.”
Anyone heading northbound is advised to get off of I-95 as far south in Broward County as possible, then work around the scene either by heading east to U.S. 1, west to the Florida Turnpike, or even further west to the Sawgrass Expressway and heading north.
