BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman found sleeping behind the wheel of her vehicle in Delray Beach was apparently so inebriated that police say she was more than three times the legal limit for blood alcohol. Brooke Trader of the 100 block fo NW 69th Circle in Boca Raton is now facing a DUI charge.

According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, a woman called Delray Beach Police after she said Trader backed into her in the area of West Linton Boulevard and South Congress Avenue, then fell asleep. Minutes later, she drove off. Police later located her in the area of I-95 and West Linton and initiated a traffic stop. Trader didn’t want to get out of her vehicle, according to the report, but eventually exited the vehicle and appeared as if something was wrong.

“I noticed that Trader was very confused, and her speech was slurred,” wrote an arresting officer. “I informed Trader of the situation and asked her how many alcoholic beverages did she have to drink. Trader admitted that she had been drinking but she stated that she barely had any alcohol.”

After allegedly failing multiple field sobriety tests, officers “conducted an inventory of the vehicle” and found a Walgreens bag with “five Smirnoff Vodka mini bottles, two of which were empty and three of which were not open.”

Two breath alcohol tests, according to police, yielded results of .280 and .282. The legal limit in Florida is .08. Brooke Trader was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on her own recognizance. A court date is pending.
