BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you’re not someone who normally wears a seatbelt, note this: the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to launch an enforcement detail in West Boca Raton, West Delray Beach, and West Boynton Beach. Wearing a seatbelt is not optional in Florida, and failing to do so could lead to a sizable ticket.
PBSO shared this announcement with BocaNewsNow.com:
“Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a countywide Occupant Protection Enforcement on Friday, January 5, 2024. The purpose of this operation is to conduct high-visibility, zero-tolerance enforcement of all Florida State Statutes regarding seat belt usage and child safety restraints. Another part of this campaign is to educate the public on the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt or securing a child in a properly installed car seat and safety belt.
The locations of the enforcement will be the major roadways in Western Palm Beach County. The hours of operation will be from Noon to 6:00 pm.”

Police can stop a motorist for a perceived seatbelt violation. There does not have to be another violation observed to initiate a traffic stop.

Against the law to not wear a seat belt, but you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Make a lot of sense.
You’re not a projectile, potentially causing harm to others by launching out of your seat. Only a smashed melon.
