BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It turns out Jason and Jennifer Goldberg, suing Broken Sound for Libel and Slander, are no strangers to the court system in Palm Beach County. Their son, Cole Goldberg, continues to face an attempted murder charge after allegedly trying to drown his girlfriend at the time in Lake Boca.

As we reported when it happened and updated last year, Cole Goldberg is accused of trying to drown a young woman during Boca Bash in 2022. Prosecutors initially filed “attempted felony murder” and “battery” charges against Goldberg. Those charges were later amended to where they stand now: “attempted second degree murder” and “domestic battery by strangulation.” The case continues to work its way through the court system. We republished this section of the police report in our initial coverage:

“Based on my investigation, (the victim) and Goldberg have been dating for about a year. Goldberg and (the victim) were having an argument, (the victim) attempted to leave, Goldberg was holding her, preventing her from getting away. (The victim) began to punch Goldberg and was able to free herself. (The victim) jumped into the water, to which Goldberg jumped in after her. Goldberg then grabbed her by the throat and began to hold (the victim) under the water until Witnesses pulled her from him. Witnesses then used a stick to keep Goldberg away from (the victim).”

Meantime, as we reported Monday, Cole’s parents are now suing Broken Sound for libel and slander. They accused the club of claiming the two were inebriated when they — allegedly — called a waitress in the Japanese restaurant in Broken Sound “Sexy Fatty” and “Sexy Mama.” The Goldbergs, allegedly annoyed that their table wasn’t ready for a reservation and that there was no Miso soup, say they weren’t insulting anyone and were not drunk. They claim they were reciting the names of sushi on the Broken Sound menu.

Read our lawsuit coverage here. Meantime, Cole Goldberg remains free on $60,000 bond.
