COCONUT CREEK, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A pedestrian was killed Sunday evening while attempting to cross Lyons Road — just south of Boca Raton in Coconut Creek.
Coconut Creek officials tell BocaNewsNow.com that first responders were called to the scene in the 4300 block of Lyons Road around 6:36 p.m. Arriving rescuers determined that one person was struck by a vehicle. That person was pronounced dead a short time later. Lyons Road remains closed in both directions as of 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
The driver, according to authorities, left the scene. That person was apprehended a short time later. There was no immediate word concerning whether that person was under the influence of a controlled substance, knew that a person had been struck, or purposely left the scene. The investigation continues.
There was also no immediate information regarding the age or sex of the victim.
