BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Dangerous weather is in the forecast for South Florida, including Boca Raton, Delray. Beach, Boynton Beach, and South Palm Beach County. The National Weather Service says tornados are possible as early as Sunday afternoon.

“Unsettled weather returns to the area on Sunday,” says the NWS. “Thunderstorms, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain are possible on Sunday afternoon and evening as a strong system moves across the region. Some thunderstorms may be strong to severe, with the primary threats of damaging winds and a few tornadoes. An elevated risk of rip currents will be possible for the Atlantic and Gulf Beaches on Sunday. Hazardous beach conditions will likely persist into early next week with high surf also possible, particularly over the Palm Beach coastline.

Hazardous marine conditions are likely over all waters Sunday into early next week as winds increase and seas build in association with a strong low-pressure system.”

The forecast for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday includes the potential for significant rain. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday look better, with a return to calm air and highs in the mid-70s.
