Cold Weather Shelters To Remain Open In Palm Beach County

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (From Palm Beach County) — The Palm Beach County Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Management has activated the Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Plan for all of Palm Beach County for this evening (Thursday). The following cold weather emergency shelters will be open beginning at 7 p.m.

 

Westgate Community Center Gymnasium

3691 Oswego Avenue, West Palm Beach

 

West County Senior Citizens Center

2916 State Road 15, Belle Glade

 

Transportation pick-up sites have been established throughout Palm Beach County. Two pick-up times are being provided, and it is important that residents are ready to be picked up by 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. No further transportation will be provided after the 7:30 p.m. pick-up times.

 

Residents seeking refuge from the cold in western Palm Beach County should contact their local police department or dial 2-1-1.

 

The National Weather Service predicts a temperature of 40°F or a wind chill of 35°F or below for at least four hours in Palm Beach County late tonight through Friday morning.

 

The Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center will continue to monitor weather developments and make announcements on any further shelter openings as necessary.
