Boca West, Akoya Sued After Swimming Pool Incident In Boca Raton Country Club

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca West Country Club and its Akoya community are part of a major lawsuit just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court by a woman who claims she was critically injured at a Boca West swimming pool. Barbara Glazer alleges that work on the pool deck was so shoddy, her leg pushed through a paver — leading her to sustain injuries that required surgery. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the complaint which makes the follow claims:

“On or about October 31, 2020, GLAZER, was a business invitee and/or resident at Akoya Boca West located at 20155 Boca W. Dr., Boca Raton, FL., 33434. On said date, GLAZER was walking around Akoya Boca West’s pool deck when she fell due to the negligently designed, built, construeted, inspected and/or maintained pavers which resulted in injuries to her person. As GLAZER, was walking on the pool deck she stepped on a paver that cracked causing her leg to go through the paver which caused her to fall.”

The suit also holds multiple defendants liable for multiple issues that allegedly led to Glazer’s injury.

“Failing to design a pool deck causing it to unstable, dangerous and/or hazardous for its invitees and/or residents; failing to design the pavers causing them to unstable, dangerous and/or hazardous for its invitees and/or residents; failing to properly construct the pool deck causing it to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents; failing to properly construct the pavers causing them to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents; failing to properly inspect the pool deck causing it to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents; failing to properly inspect the pavers the causing them to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents; failing to properly maintain the pool deck causing it to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents; failing properly maintain the pavers causing them to be unreasonably dangerous and hazardous to invitees and/or residents…”

The suit names Akoya At Boca West Country Club Condominium Association; Akoya Associates LLC; Kast Construction III LLC; AKAM On-Site, Inc; Amkin Management LLC; Siemens Development LLC; BW-INV LLC, and AK Boca West LLC as defendants. The complaint alleges:

“As a direct and proximate result of the negligence of (the defendants), GLAZER, suffered serious and grievous personal injuries, including but not limited to, a knee surgery, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, inconvenience, past, present and future medical expenses, physical handicap, rehabilitation expense, loss of earnings, both in the past and future, along with lost earning capacity. These injuries are either permanent or continuing in nature the Plaintiff will suffer losses in the future.” Ms. Glazer is represented by Aronberg and Aronberg Injury law Firm in Delray Beach.
