Husband Shoots Wife's Boyfriend In Boca

Boca Raton Police report that Joseph Montique, 34, of Boynton Beach (shown) has been arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder for allegedly shooting his wife’s boyfriend.
Police say it happened around 8:40 Sunday evening at 2880 NW 25th Way. Officers arriving on the scene found a woman wearing a bloodstained t-shirt walking on the sidewalk. They also saw a male bleeding in the front yard of a nearby house yelling that he had been shot. While police investigated, Montique allegedly came out of the front door with his hands in the air. He was holding a gun. Police ordered him to drop the gun and get on the ground, which he did. As police cuffed Montique, they say he confessed to shooting the victim.
Officers searched the house and discovered several spent shell casings and a knife lying on the floor near a back bedroom. The female told officers that she had recently filed for divorce and her husband, Montique, was having trouble handling the situation. Police also report that she said, “he shot him.”
The victim was taken to Delray Medical Center where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds. Boca Raton detectives interviewed Montique who told them he suspect his wife was cheating on him, so he drove by the house and saw her car and another unfamiliar car in the driveway. Montique entered the house and discovered his wife and the victim in a bedroom.
Montique initially told detectives the victim had a knife and later stated that he actually planted the knife.
