BOCA RATON, FL ( — Boca Raton Residents Mary Skarecki and Elizabeth DiMarco were among those lucky Kravis Center supporters on hand for a fantastic dessert smorgasbord followed by a performance of “Mama Mia.” The 20th Annual Season Dessert Reception honored the generous “Annual Friends.”
Here what it was all about, direct from the Kravis Center:
It was “Honey, Honey” and other sweet and delectable treats when the Kravis Center hosted its 20th Anniversary Season Dessert Reception honoring our generous Annual Friends Members, followed by a happy, snappy performance of the smash musical Mamma Mia!.
The scrumptious appreciation party began in the Gimelstob Ballroom with a video salute to the Kravis Center’s 20 years of Artistic Excellence and Commitment to the Community, featuring special anniversary greetings from a galaxy of stars from Broadway, Hollywood and the wide world of entertainment.
Kravis Center CEO Judy Mitchell welcomed nearly 200 Annual Friends members and guests and warmly thanked them for their ongoing support, many of which have been supporting the Center since it opened in 1992. She gave special praise to the reception’s sponsor Bank of America, represented by Kelly Sobolewski, and to Carolyn and Richard Sloane, who sponsored the Kravis Center run of Mamma Mia!
The menu included a wide variety of lip-smacking, palate-pleasing desserts including Homemade Beignets, Tiramisu, Caramel Pecan Bars, German Chocolate Cake, Key Lime Pie, the Chef’s selection of seasonal cheesecake and fruits and more.
Following the Dessert Reception, the Annual Friends members entered the Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. Concert Hall for the opening night performance of Mamma Mia!, the frothy Broadway hit based on best-selling pop songs by the Swedish group ABBA.
Seen by over 52 million people around the world, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus’ global hit musical is a longtime favorite of Kravis Center audiences, who have been known to sing along and even shimmy in the aisles to such chart-topping hits as “Dancing Queen,” “SOS,” “Take a Chance on Me” and the show’s title song.
