BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The holiday spirit officially hits downtown Boca Raton on Friday, starting with a tremendous light display that must be seen to be believed. It’s all part of what’s being marketed as “Dowtown Boca.” You can learn more about it at DownTownBoca.org. But for now, here’s the announcement of what you can expect to see:
Mizner Park will light up Downtown Boca this holiday season with a dazzling display of 400,000 LED lights along Plaza Real. To get in the spirit, visitors can enjoy Magical Music In Motion, a 40-foot Christmas tree featuring ‘dancing’ lights choreographed to holiday music favorites, nightly, beginning Friday, November 25, at the south end of MIzner Park.
Thousands of miniature lights appear throughout the city on Friday, November 25th, to officially begin the 2011 holiday season in Downtown Boca Raton. Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, followed with City of Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel officiating at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Look for the beautiful fairyland setting as lights begin to twinkle in the giant palm trees in Sanborn Square, along major highways and other landmark locations around the city — at the precise time of 6:00 p.m. — as the Mayor “turns on” the light switch. Also planned for the evening will be entertainment by the Boca Raton Community High School Band and other musical groups, with food and fun for the entire family. There will also be “snow” (real stuff in piles!) and handmade arts & crafts displays for holiday giftgiving. A holiday stage show by ZMC entertainment, complete with music, dance, colorful costumes and comic characters will also be part of the evening’s festivities.
Mr. and Mrs. Santa will make an appearance to tend to each child’s holiday wishes and will be available for picture taking, with proceeds to benefit local high school music department projects. In addition, children can enjoy various rides, facepainting, balloonmaking, sand art, cupcake decorating and share in other family fun activities.
Mizner Park is located on Federal Highway, between Glades and Palmetto Park roads in downtown Boca Raton. For more information, visit www.miznerpark.com for a full roster of shops, restaurants, and events information, or call 561 362-0606.
