UPDATE 3:22P — The search for an armed black man continues. The campus remains locked down.
UPDATE 2:19P — A black man reportedly held a gun to a student's head and robbed him on the campus of Florida Atlantic University within the past hour.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., an armed robbery occurred in the Arts and Letters building (building 9) of Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus. The victim was a student. The suspect is a black male, approximately 5-10, with a muscular build, dressed in white pants and white shirt and wearing a ski mask. The suspect placed a small handgun to the victim’s head and then fled on foot after taking some of the victim’s possessions. All campus entrances are closed. Cars are being allowed to exit campus through only the 10th and 13th street exits. All vehicles are being checked before leaving campus.just received an email sent to students and staff moments ago at Florida Atlantic University stating an armed person is on campus.

If you have information relevant to this emergency, call University Police.
FAU DESCRIPTION OF SUSPECT:
FAU Alert: Boca Campus. Suspect Description: Black male wearing white pants, white shirt. Approximately five feet ten inches tall. Muscular build. Remain alert. Remain sheltered in place. Lock doors. Contact 911 with any information you may have.
If FAU is under lockdown then why not the school directly across Gladse?
Good question. No answer at this point.
Because the assailant is on the FAU campus, and they believe he hasn’t left the campus.
The schools surrounding FAU were on lock down, but (at least before elementary school dismissal) JC Mitchell’s lock down was removed. As for Boca High across Glades Rd., I do not know. Most likely their lock down was lifted before dismissal too.
JC Mitchell Elementary WAS on lockdown, but was allowed to leave once school time was up. I spoke with a teacher at the school, and attitude around campus was scared at first, but now they’re not worried. PBSC, FAU, and Henderson are STILL on lockdown.
