BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — AT&T Wireless customers are continuing to experience enhanced service throughout Boca Raton and much of South Florida, thanks to major enhancements on the network.

AT&T told BocaNewsNow.com earlier today that enhancements throughout the area are increasing data speeds and call capacity.

Throughout South Florida, AT&T has made the following announcements:

South Florida AT&T* customers are expected to experience improved mobile Internet performance as a result of a new 4G cell site in Miami and network capacity upgrades in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The network enhancements are a part of continued local investment and innovation by the company.

The new Miami mobile Internet cell site on N.W. 14th Street is expanding 4G** coverage and speeds to the SR-836 extension approaching N.W. 137th Ave, as well as to the areas south and north of the site.

The capacity upgrades involved adding new layers of frequency, also known as “carriers,” to more than 50 cell sites. The additional capacity makes it possible for the sites to accommodate more traffic, which helps improve the performance of mobile Internet data and voice connectivity.

The areas benefiting from the upgrades include Miami, Doral, Sweetwater, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, Aventura, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and Pinecrest in Miami-Dade County; Pembroke Pines, Southwest Ranches, Sunrise, Hallandale, and Hollywood in Broward County; and Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach West Palm Beach, Wellington, North Palm Beach, Juno Beach, and Jupiter in Palm Beach County.

“We’re working to build a 4G network that’s smarter and better to provide our South Florida customers with a superior mobile Internet experience,” said Marshall Criser, lll, AT&T Florida president. “These recent network upgrades are an example of one way we’re accomplishing that goal.”

AT&T’s innovation and investment has resulted in the nation’s largest 4G network, covering more than 285 million people with ultra-fast speeds and a more consistent user experience. That’s coverage in 3,000 more 4G cities and towns than Verizon.***

AT&T has deployed two compatible 4G technologies to deliver more speed to more smartphone customers, which means AT&T customers can get 4G speeds on 4G HSPA+, unlike competitors, where smartphone customers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.

AT&T’s focus to deliver the best possible mobile Internet experience goes beyond 4G and DAS to embrace additional connection technologies. AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network**** including more than 31,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers across the country. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.
