BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — If you love the Olympics or just love your local YMCA, check out this major event scheduled for March:

The YMCA of South Palm Beach County’s 11th Annual Prayer Breakfast is fast approaching and community members are gearing up for this inspirational event which helps provide financial assistance to those in need. The Prayer Breakfast, set to take place on Tuesday, March 12 at the Boca Resort and Club from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., is a morning of motivational and inspiring fellowship and fun. The event brings the community together for a time of reflection and encouragement while keeping aligned with the YMCA’s energetic spirit and fundraising for the Y’s financial assistance program.

Shannon Miller, the US Olympic Gymnast who led the “Magnificent Seven” to the US Women’s first-ever Team Gold in 1996, will be the special keynote speaker. She is the only female athlete to be inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame twice (Individual 2006 and Team 2008) and the only American to rank among the Top 10 All-Time Gymnasts. Aside from being an Olympic gold medalist, Shannon is also a wife, mother, health & fitness advocate and cancer survivor. Shannon is currently cancer free and pregnant, beating the odds, and continues to be a strong advocate for early detection and making health a priority.

“I am truly looking forward to speaking to members of the Boca Raton community at the upcoming 11th Annual Prayer Breakfast,” said Shannon Miller. “Healthy living, social responsibility and youth development are core YMCA initiatives that I value in my personal life and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts particularly on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle with the Prayer Breakfast attendees”

The Emcee for the breakfast will also feature CBS 12 news anchor Liz Quirantes, who was recently named 2012 Hispanic Woman of Distinction for South Florida. Henrietta, Countess De Hoernle, a long-time Y supporter whose contributions as a board member and trustee have helped build the Child Development and Youth Center at the Peter Blum Family YMCA of Boca Raton, will also be honored.

More than 600 community leaders, business professionals and members of the Boca Raton area are expected to attend the breakfast, making this the largest annual fundraiser for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. Past featured keynote speakers include: Tim Tebow’s parents, Wally “Famous” Amos, Amway cofounder, Rich DeVos, Orlando Magic owner and former Florida State University (FSU) football coach Bobby Bowden. Through the support of those attending the Prayer Breakfast, the Y continues to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
