BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com ) — If you’re looking for a family-fun event that’s heavy on basketball and show, but doesn’t require a trip to Miami, get ready for the Harlem Globetrotters — set to appear at the FAU Arena on Monday, March 4th and Friday, March 8th. The game/performance will feature “Special K” Daley, the first Latino to have a lead role with the team.
According to the Globetrotters:
As the first Latino to play the prominent role of “Showman” on the Harlem Globetrotters, Special K Daley will lead the team into Miami for an action packed game at AmericanAirlines Arena on Sunday, March 3 at 4 p.m. Special K and the Globetrotters will also play games at FAU Arena in Boca Raton on Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. and Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
As the Showman, Special K is mic’d throughout the game. As a result, the audience can hear his dialogue and comedy on the court. When the Globetrotters visit Spanish speaking countries around the world, Special K will talk to the audience in Spanish.
Special K was born and raised in Panama City, Panama until the age of 13 when his father moved his family to California. He quickly starred on his high school team and later at Azusa Pacific University.
While spreading goodwill with the Globetrotters, Special K has had many unique experiences, including playing basketball with President Barack Obama at the White House and with Justin Bieber before a TV appearance. He has also played on a roof of an arena in Philadelphia and on a cricket field in Jamaica.
Special K has appeared on TV shows such as “The Celebrity Apprentice,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “The Bachelorette,” Disney XD’s “Kickin’ It,” and “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?” Special K also holds the official Guinness World Record for the longest recorded hook shot ever made at 46’6”.
During the Globetrotters’ 2013 “You Write the Rules” World Tour, fans will decide the rules for the game that could affect the final outcome. This could be anything from playing with two basketballs at once, to getting double the points for each basket made. Fans can vote at www.harlemglobetrotters.com/rule to vote for which ground-breaking rule they want to see implemented in their game.
Tickets are on sale now at www.harlemglobetrotters.com, the respective arena box offices, or by phone at 800-745-3000.
