BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — If you're a big fan of Pi, and really, who doesn't love starting a conversation with 3.1415, then you'll really love celebrating the mathematical concept of Pi with a piece of pie at one of the nation's premiere pie locations.
From our friends at FAU:
The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University’s Wimberly Library will take orders for world-famous Upper Crust Pies to raise money for the center and awareness of Pi Day, which celebrates the mathematical constant pi, through Friday, March 8, at the Jaffe Center, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
The 9-inch pies will be available in fruit, cream, meringue and sugar-free, and in 32 flavors, including peanut butter, strawberry rhubarb, German chocolate cream, pina colada, black bottom rum, Dutch chocolate, apple and pumpkin.
This is the first time the Jaffe Center and the bakery have teamed up to raise money and to celebrate Pi Day, designated as Thursday, March 14 by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2009. That date was chosen because three, one and four are the most significant digits of pi in the decimal form. The pies cost $20 each and about $10 from each pie sold will benefit the Jaffe Center.
Upper Crust, a 30-year-old family-owned Lake Worth company, bakes with fresh frozen fruit and other quality ingredients. The bakery has earned the distinction for best pies from South Florida magazines and newspapers. The Wall Street Journal and other newspapers have featured the Upper Crust in news articles.
To place pie orders, call 561-297-0455, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://www.jaffecollection.org and click “events.” Pies can be picked up on Thursday, March 14, or Saturday, March 16, at the Jaffe Center in FAU’s Wimberly Library.
