Boca West Prepares For Major Charitable Event

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — A great story to share this Monday about something happening next Monday at Boca West Country Club, as $100,000 is up for grabs among lucky — yet deserving — children's charities throughout the area.

From Boca West:

On Monday, April 15, 2013 at Boca West Country Club 300 concerned citizens of South Palm Beach County will vie for monies to be distributed as grants to 11 children’s charities in the area at the 1st Annual Boca West Foundation $100,000 Golf Challenge presented by Mercedes Benz Delray.

Teams made up of golfers representing the projects created by the Boca West Foundation (which is a 501©3 charitable corporation created by the 5,700 members of Boca West) will vie for the $20,000 first prize (all charities are guaranteed a minimum of $5,000).

The Charity projects are:

Boca Raton Police Athletic League – funds for transportation of children to after school cheerleading, basketball and boxing competitions.

Wayne Barton Study Center – funds for 8,000 book bags and school supplies distributed to area children.

Florence Fuller Child Development Centers – funds for nurse at their west campus.

Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options – funds for keeping their child emergency center open on weekends.

Caridad Center – funds for pediatric dental care program.

The Gift of Life – funds for processing hundreds of DNA swabs so they can be entered in the international registry to find bone marrow matches for children with leukemia

The Boys and Girls Club of Boca Raton – funds for their adopt a family/home for the holiday Christmas program whereby 180 Boca West volunteers help the 230 kids of the chapter shop at Old Navy for new clothes as well as a Mickey Mouse pancake breakfast, where the kids get gifts and harvest baskets of food for a holiday meal.

SOS Children’s Villages-Florida/SCOPE – funds to send 32 local children to two weeks of Camp Wewa sleep away camp in Apopka. Fl

The Giving Tree – funds for their “Sweet Dreams” project where beds and bassinets are purchased for any family in need in Boca Raton.

Boca Helping Hands – funds for “Boca West Fridays” so families in need have food and nourishment for that day and the weekend.

In addition, four winning players will be going to the Regional Finals of the Mercedes Championship in Maui, Hawaii for five days in November with all the expenses of the trip paid for by Mercedes Benz Delray. The winners there will then advance to the finals in Augusta, Georgia next April.
