Update: A previous version identified Boca Center as Town Center Mall. We regret the error.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The bizarre yet apparently profitable theft of tires and rims from cars in Boca Raton continues to be a problem. We've reported on several tire and rim thefts — often in the area of Northwest Corporate Center Drive (near Houston's).
Now there has been another. This time at Boca Center — in the Marriott parking lot.
Police say the owner of a Dodge Charger emerged from the mall in the early evening to find his car on cinder blocks and his wheels missing. Incredibly, the victim had just purchased new rims and tires for his Charger because he was the victim of an identical theft two months ago, in another part of Boca.
No arrests in this case.
Police and Security can’t be everywhere all the time. People are completely oblivious to their surroundings at Boca Town Center and that’s why criminals look at it as gold mine. While this situation is unfortunate and unpreventable by the cars owner there are other thefts that happen which could have easily been prevented if people would just use some common sense and pay attention to their belongings and surroundings. Trying to tie in the Gorenberg murder was tasteless and just used as a mechanism to further sensationalize this story…Grow up
