Boca Raton Tornado Watch In Effect Through 10PM

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of the region, including Boca Raton and South Palm Beach County. The watch is in effect until 10pm tonight.

A “watch” means that conditions are right for storm development, but not that a tornado is currently touching down.

AFTER A LULL IN ACTIVITY, MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE

BEGINNING TO DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA. THEY ARE MOVING TO THE

NORTH NORTHEAST AT AROUND 35 MPH. RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE

LIGHT DUE TO THEIR SPEED. THERE IS ANOTHER BAND ASSOCIATED WITH

TROPICAL STORM ANDREA THAT WILL MOVE INTO SOUTH FLORIDA OVER THE

NEXT SEVERAL HOURS FROM THE WEST.

THE ENVIRONMENT REMAINS FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND

TORNADIC DEVELOPMENT. A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10

PM. IT IS ADVISED TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR

POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
