BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — A woman was dragged by a car and injured after she attempted to stop a brazen cell phone thief outside the Michael's Art Supply store at 8903 Glades Road.
The Palm Bach County Sheriff's Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that an unknown male asked the woman if she could use her cell phone to make a call because his phone was out of minutes. The victim allowed him to do so. But as soon as she handed him the phone, the man ran to a white vehicle parked nearby — possibly a Ford Crown Victoria — and jumped in.
The car sped off, driven by a second person.
The victim, however, chased the car and grabbed the passenger side handle. The driver kept going — dragging the woman as she held on to the car, attempting to stop the thugs and retrieve her cell phone. She let go as the car picked up speed, suffering injuries to her left toe, left and right thigh and chin. She also chipped her front tooth.
Detectives continue to investigate the case.
