DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The increasingly popular night out in Delray — known as “On The Ave” — is moving this month to Pineapple Grove. From our friends at the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative:
Set for Thursday, October 17, from 6 to 10 p.m., On The Ave will be packed with outstanding entertainment, gorgeous art and great food, along Northeast Second Avenue from just north of Atlantic Avenue to just south of Northeast Third Street.“One of the goals of On The Ave is to highlight all that Delray Beach has to offer throughout the year, especially during the off-season months,” says Immelman. “The popular one-night festival was located on West Atlantic Avenue in August and will be held in the Pineapple Grove Arts District in October. There’s a great energy in this area now, thanks in large part to the Hyatt Place Delray Beach, the Arts Garage and Artists Alley, all of which are relatively new to the area. Bringing On The Ave to Pineapple Grove is one more way of showing our support for merchants throughout Delray Beach.”“Having On The Ave in Pineapple Grove will offer visitors a chance to experience first hand how this area has become a hot spot for restaurants, shopping and, of course, art,” she adds. “The theme for this event is Be a Part of the Art, and we’re going to showcase every discipline from visual art to music to dance.”During the upcoming event, visitors will be able not only enjoy the art of Pineapple Grove, they’ll also have a chance to be a part of it. Throughout the evening, artists from nearby Artists Alley will display their work and offer demonstrations, while visitors will have a chance to create their own masterpieces on blank canvases set up throughout the area. The art of music will also be in the spotlight as musicians perform along each block of Second Avenue, also known as Pineapple Grove Way.Singer, guitarist and composer Ghaleb, a South Florida favorite, will be a featured performer along with PALO!, an Afro-Cuban-funk band. Popular local twin brothers who perform as Double Trouble and students from the Arts Garage Academy band will also add to the musical entertainment.Visitors also might want to bring their dancing shoes to On The Ave in Pineapple Grove and join with dancers from NTB Studios, who will be giving four performances and teaching a few dance moves between shows. Those who see collector cars as works of art will enjoy the variety of classic cars on display – featuring everything from muscle cars to vehicles from the 50s and 60s when big fins and big engines were the big thing. For younger visitors, there will be Kids Corner – made possible by Avenue Church, where the smaller set will have a chance to paint and create, step into a photo booth and even learn some dance moves of their own.Of course, food and beverages are always an important part of On The Ave and guests are invited to stop by any of the great Pineapple Grove restaurants. A beer garden sponsored by 3rd and 3rd will be open and popular paella from main stage sponsor, Papa Tapas, will be available.Regardless of what brings them to On The Ave in Pineapple Grove, guests will be encouraged to get involved and be a part of the art.“An event is always a lot more fun when you’re a part of it,” says Jarrod White, DBMC’s special events coordinator. “We really want people to come and get involved and see for themselves why Delray Beach is the Most Fun Small Town in the USA.”
