FAU Football Head Coach Ousted Over Drug Use

FAU News

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — In a hastily called news conference this afternoon, Florida Atlanic University announced the immediate ousting of head football coach Carl Pelini and defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis.

From our friend Chuck King at FAUOwlAccess.com:

Florida Atlantic football coach Carl Pelini and defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis resigned today after Pat Chun confronted the pair about alleged drug use, Chun announced at a press conference.

FAU is 2-6 this season and 5-15 during Pelini's tenure.

FAU closed its practice to the media on Wednesday. Pelini was, however, present at the practices.

Neither Florida Atlantic University police nor Boca Raton Police were asked to launch an investigation. The school — for now — says this is an internal matter.
