BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — We receive emails almost every day taking us to task for running mug shots of adults who are charged with DUI. The emails range from thinly veiled threats of lawsuits to calling us “vile, worthless trash.”
In the interest of clearing the air and reaffirming our position: It is our belief that if you are driving drunk, you are, quite simply, the scum of the earth. You should be locked up, embarrassed in front of your friends and neighbors, and your license should be revoked for years.
There, we said it.
We have little kids. Our friends have little kids. Boca is a community full of kids. It is unconscionable — especially if you have kids — to risk their lives by having so much alcohol that you could crash into a car carrying kids and kill them. It is unconscionable that you could crash into a car and kill their parents.
Driving while drunk is, quite simply, an immature, selfish and stupid thing to do. If you are arrested for DUI in or around Boca Raton, you are more likely than not going to be featured on this website. Your mugshot will forever be listed in search engines. And your arrest record will be available for all to see. Yes, it speaks volumes about who you are as a person. Yes, it should impact your ability to find work down the road. No, we’re not removing it for a cash payment.
We do understand that, sometimes, police make mistakes or cases aren’t strong enough to be prosecuted. When that happens, we will happily either update the report or remove it in its entirety. Let us know.
But when police have videotape of you stumbling on the side of a highway, battering an officer who is trying to take you into custody, or unable to recite the alphabet because you are so inebriated at age 40, 50, or 60, don’t expect it to remain a private matter.
It’s not.
It’s a matter that impacts everyone driving, everyone who didn’t have two shots of vodka, everyone who knew how to find the home they’ve lived in for years. It impacts everyone running to Publix for a half gallon of milk at 10pm who expects to make it back home, alive, ten minutes later.

Going to have to agree with boca news. I see wayyyyyy too many people driving drunk. In my complex alone I routinely witness teens and young adults stumbling out of the drivers seat of their car beer in hand! If you get caught drinking and driving you deserve to be humiliated. Also, wtf ever happened to a designated driver?
I agree – they should be embarassed and outted!
A public shaming won’t get an argument here. I wish it were possible for lousy, selfish, aggressive drivers.
