New Principal Named For West Boca High School

Craig Sommer is the new Principal of West Boca Raton High School. He is currently Principal of Pine Jog Elementary.

BOCA RATON, FL ( — The new principal for West Boca Raton High School is Craig Sommer, the now former principal of Pine Jog Elementary.
Sommer replaces the embattled Mark Stenner who has been reassigned to a non-principal job after copying heavily from a famous graduation speech for his own commencement address.
Here is the official announcement from Palm Beach County Schools:
Four School District of Palm Beach County schools will have new leaders when classes begin Aug. 17, Superintendent Robert M. Avossa, Ed. D., announced Thursday.
The new principals are:

  • Berkshire Elementary School: Diana Perez. Perez most recently served as assistant principal at Greenacres Elementary School.
  • Everglades Elementary School: Amie Souder. Souder most recently served as assistant principal at Bak Middle School of the Arts.
  • Hagen Road Elementary School: Robyn Saltzman. Saltzman most recently served as assistant principal at Verde Elementary School.
  • West Boca Raton High School: Craig Sommer. Sommer most recently served as principal at Pine Jog Elementary School.

“Principals are vital to student success,” Avossa said. “I’m confident that each of these individuals will provide the leadership needed at each school to ensure teachers and students have the tools they need to perform at their best.”
Avossa will recommend the School Board approve the principals’ appointments at its regular meeting on Aug. 19. A search will be conducted and a new principal announced soon for Pine Jog Elementary.
A total of 16 schools will have new principals for the 2015-2016 school year. They are:

  • Tara Dellegrotti Ocampo, Atlantic High School
  • Rachel Capitano, Del Prado Elementary School
  • Reginald Jeudy, Intensive Transition – South
  • Michael Rieckenberg, Jerry Thomas Elementary School
  • Anthony Lockhart, Lake Shore Middle School
  • Valerie Jones, Pleasant City Elementary School
  • Elaine Hubbard-Williams, Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy
  • Moneek McTier, Roosevelt Middle School
  • Stephanie Coletto, Sandpiper Shores Elementary School
  • Melinda Springman, South Olive Elementary School
  • Cara Hayden, Starlight Cove Elementary School
  • Latoya Dixon, Village Academy
