LAKE WORTH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Source: FHP Media Advisory) — At approximately 1:35pm, FHP received a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) from the Broward Sheriff Office (BSO) in the area of Interstate 95 and Pembroke Rd, in reference to a subject driving a black Dodge Caravan that claimed to be in possession of a firearm and wanting to harm himself.

As the black Dodge continued traveling northbound on I-95, FHP Units observed the vehicle traveling in the area of Sample Road (SR-834). Troopers attempted to make a stop on the black Dodge Caravan, but the black Dodge Caravan di not stop and continued traveling northbound on I-95 without stopping.

Several FHP units kept behind the black Dodge Caravan until the area of I-95 northbound and 6th Ave, where FHP units conducted a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the black Dodge Caravan to veer towards the left.

The black Dodge Caravan then hit the concrete median wall with its front side. Troopers on scene were able to rapidly detain the driver, Hispanic male, 34 years of age, without any further incidents. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

An air pistol was found inside the black Dodge Caravan and the driver was then Baker Acted and taken to JFK North Hospital for further evaluation. This case is still pending investigation.
