BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The Palm Beach County School District added 554 COVID-19 cases in just 21 calendar days. The school district ended 2020 with 1,268 COVID-19 cases. That number, as Monday, January 25th gets underway, is now 1,822.

The disturbing case increase comes as another 15,000 students are expected to be sent by their parents or guardians back to school in another week or the start of the second semester. That increase will create a near 52-48 percent split, with slightly more students continuing to learn from home versus those who will be attending school in person.

The latest official cumulative case count in South Palm Beach County schools:

Boca Raton Community High School: 37 COVID cases.

Boca Raton Community Middle School: 24 COVID cases.

Boynton Beach Community High: 14 COVID cases.

Calusa Elementary: 24 COVID cases.

Coral Reef Elementary: 17 COVID cases.

Del Prado Elementary: 15 COVID cases.

Don Estridge High Tech Middle: 25 COVID cases.

Eagles Landing Middle: 11 COVID cases.

Freedom Shores Elementary: 13 COVID cases.

Hammock Pointe Elementary: 19 COVID cases.

Loggers’ Run Middle School: 8 COVID cases.

Morkiami Park Elementary: 12 COVID cases.

Olympic Heights Community High School: 26 COVID cases.

Omni Middle School: 18 COVID cases.

Polo Park Middle School: 22 COVID cases.

Sandpiper Shores Elementary: 6 COVID cases.

Spanish River Community High: 19 COVID cases.

Sunrise Park Elementary: 13 COVID cases.

Verde K-8: 14 COVID cases.

Waters Edge Elementary: 16 COVID cases.

West Boca Community High: 14 COVID cases.

Whispering Pines Elementary: 17 COVID cases.

The split as of Monday morning: 1040 students have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Palm Beach County School District, with 782 employees testing positive.
