UPDTE: 9:07 a.m: While we are hearing a few stories of success, the system is again closed with most vaccine-seekers failing in their efforts. The system opens again on Wednesday.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The Publix COVID-19 vaccine reservation system is live again, starting at 6 a.m. (Friday, January 28, 2021). We remind our readers that potentially hundreds of thousands of senior citizens are vying for just thousands of appointments. The odds are against you.
Once you are on the page, just sit tight. There is no way to force it through. You will likely see several stores in several areas with available appointments, but it’s a lot like seeing a mirage while you’re in the desert. It seems like it’s there. It looks like it’s there. But until you’re actually sitting under the tree or swimming in the lake, there’s no way to prove that it’s there. Just because you see appointments doesn’t mean that they’re available to you. The Publix computer system decides who gets it, when and where.
Some tech advice: don’t refresh your browser. If you are trying on a phone and a computer or iPad at the same time, try to have them on separate networks. Have your computer on WiFi at home, but turn off the Wifi on your phone so it is on the cellular network. Why? The Publix computer system will almost assuredly see that as two separate devices in two separate places, instead of a phone and a computer in the same home. Yes, systems can figure that out.
As always, let us know how it goes for you, but after receiving hundreds of calls and emails we must make this point: BocaNewsNow.com is all knowing and all powerful, but even we can not get you a shot. We have received tear-inducing emails and calls for days asking for help. Trust us, if we could we would. We encourage you to consider your predicament when you next vote for Governor, but for now, just try to get on the Publix website as close to 6 a.m. as you can.
