BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) (News App readers click here for full story) — A popular West Boca Raton Chinese takeout restaurant was cited by health inspectors for multiple “high priority” violations on February 17th.
Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation reports a re-inspection cleared many of the issues the following day.
Gary Woo Express at 9874 Yamato Road (near U.S. 441) received two high priority violations, three intermediate violations and three basic violations during the February 17th inspection. That led to inspectors listing the visit as “warning issued.”
The official findings, using language directly from the inspection report filed as part of the February 17th visit:
High Priority – Stop Sale issued on time/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse. Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. chicken (50°F – Cold Holding); raw meat (50°F – Cold Holding); Shrimp (49°F – Cold Holding); pork (49°F – Cold Holding); scallop (51°F – Cold Holding); egg yolks (51°F – Cold Holding); lobster (50°F – Cold Holding); noodles (51°F – Cold Holding) Observed in flip top cooler and reach-in under flip top cooler across from wok station. Operator stated that food has been in the cooler since 11am, it is now 2:56pm making it more than 4 hours. See stop sale.

Intermediate – No written procedures available for use of time as a public health control to hold time/temperature control for safety food. Emailed operator TPHC form which he filled out during the inspection. **Corrected On-Site**
Basic – Bowl used to dispense flour. Operator removed. **Corrected On-Site**
Basic – Soiled reach-in cooler gaskets. Observed at reach-in coolers next to steam table.
Basic – Working containers of flour and sugar removed from original container not identified by common name. Operator labeled. **Corrected On-Site**
An unannounced follow-up inspection the following day — on February 18th — cleared the “high priority violations,” leaving these:

The follow up inspection led to an official finding of “met inspection standards.”
