PARKLAND, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An area physician facing “online solicitation” and “transmission of harmful material” charges was apparently turned in by a 13 year old who realized the wrinkled hand of the man holding his “private part” in a snapchat photo wasn’t that of a 17 year old.
Stewart Bitman, M.D., was arrested on January 26th. BocaNewsNow.com just obtained a copy of the case filing memorandum filed with the Broward County Clerk of Courts. We warn our readers: the following is graphic. It is written by the Assistant State Attorney for Broward County:
“On May 14, 2020, the victim’s mother reported that her 13-year-old daughter, was using her Snapchat account on April 3, 2020 when she received a friend request by another user. He kept messaging her, claiming to be a 17-year-old boy. Between April 3, 2020 and April 10, 2020, he sent her numerous pictures of a male’s pe..s. She also received a picture of his face. The victim initially told her mother the suspect sent her a video of himself masturbating, but when the victim gave her statement 9 months later, she could not remember if he did so or not. The suspect knew her age and repeatedly told her not to talk to anyone. The victim finally blocked him on April 10, 2020 and reported it to her mother on May 14, 2020. She took several screen shots their communications and three of the penis images.”
“The chat data from the suspect’s account clearly shows he said he was 17 and the victim said she was 13. The next day, the victim confronted him about his age because his hand in one of the pictures was wrinkled. He then changed his story to say he was 49. He sent a voice message to her as well. He asked her if she wanted to see him ejaculate. He also asked her if she would suck him. She said, “probably not.” The suspect later sent a photo including his face. The victim promptly called him a pedophile and said she was reporting him.”
“A search of the suspect’s Snapchat account shows he has been communicating with hundreds of minors between 12 and 14 and repeatedly refers of to himself as 17-year-old “Matt” who attends Cardinal Gibbons High School. The chats with these minors are similar in nature to the chats in this case. Some are more serious. Detective Montgomery is investigating some of these cases.”
“The suspect’s wife and daughter spoke to detectives and described an incident in 2005 where the suspect was caught engaging in similar conduct and was using a photo of his son in chats. The suspect gave a statement. He basically said, “I don’t know,” and “I don’t remember” in response to specific questions. He does admit to chatting with the account and say he has never met with anyone. He implies it was all fantasy. It is clear from his statement that he has engaged in this conduct.”
BSO ICAC detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case or anyone whose child may have been a victim of Bitman to contact BSO ICAC Detective Jennifer Montgomery at 954-888-5290. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
