According to FHP, a driver on I-95 reported that a silver Volvo sedan hit the median wall north of Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. multiple times but continued to drive. A Trooper then found the vehicle and also witnessed the driver repeatedly hitting the median. The Trooper stopped the vehicle and determined it was driven by Joi Andersen of 3831 Candlewood Court in Boca Raton.

Wrote the trooper: “When I asked Ms. Anderson why she collided with the concrete median, she was not aware the she collided with the concrete median and not aware she was traveling on the left inside shoulder. I then proceeded to ask her where she was coming from. Ms. Anderson stated that she was coming from Boca Raton and headed to West Palm Beach and then stated she was coming from West Palm Beach and headed to Boca Raton. I also noticed her pupils were dilated. Her attitude was lethargic in nature and her speech was slurred.”

Also from the report: “Ms. Anderson made a spontaneous utterance … that she took some prescribed Oxycodone earlier today. Before she was transported, I conducted a vehicle inventory search of belongings she wanted to take to the shoptalk and observed a clear plastic bottle with no prescription label with 3 white pills inside her black purse… the pills were later identified that evening as Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30 MG.”

While this incident occurred on December 28th, FHP awaited final blood work before executing an arrest. Anderson was taken into custody on Sunday. She is officially charged with “drug possession — controlled substance without a prescription,” and “DUI unlawful blood alcohol, DUI damage to property or person.”

Bond is set at $1,000.
