BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The potential super-spreader event known as “Boca Bash” will take place on Lake Boca on Sunday. Canceled last year due to COVID-19, the mega boating and drinking event is likely to present images of idiocy — images we’ll be publishing here throughout the day.
For now, the Boca Raton Police Department has issued the following advisories to anyone taking part in the event:
“The boat ramp at Silver Palm Park will be open only for the launching and recovery of vessels that are registered and have a city ramp permit.”
“When parking reaches capacity in Silver Palm Park, launching of boats will no longe be permitted.”
“No vehicles will be allowed at wildflower property.”
“No pickup or drop off of passengers will be permitted.”
The Boca Bash comes as the COVID-19 positivity rate in Palm Beach County continues to hover in the 6’s, 7’s and 8’s — numbers health officials say are still too high for comfort. Hospital COVID counts remain higher than many expected they would be at this point in the pandemic.
Wondering what Boca Bash is? Here’s how event organizers describe it on their Facebook Page.
“It is a gathering. A gathering of people brought together by the promise of sun, sound, and energy. The energy of thousands of people on boats, rafts, tubes, jet skis, paddle boards, and just about anything else you can manage to float on!In short, Boca Bash is nothing less than amazing. Most widely known for it’s large crowds and tolerance by law enforcement, it has become one of the most widely looked forward to parties of the year. For those who have been before, such an explanation seems less than adequate, but for those who haven’t, ask yourself this one question…”If for 1 day a year, thousands of people, woke up at the crack of dawn, threw on board shorts, strapped on the bikinis, got to their boats, fired up the engines, packed the coolers, prepped the kegs, grabbed the bottles, rallied the super soakers, wired the speakers & subs, playlists ready, took just enough sunscreen, inflated the rafts, and set the sails for one place all day to make a memory that lasts the whole year… where will you be?”
There is no public COVID protocol in place.
