BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Masks are still mandatory in the Palm Beach County School District — a policy that will remain in effect until June 18th which is the last day of school.
The school district now reports 3,701 confirmed COVID-19 cases — with nearly 700 cases recorded in less than two months. Of the 3,701 cases logged since September, 2,433 have been reported since school restarted after the winter break. That means the vast majority of cases have been logged in 2021.
School officials say that mask use is no longer required outside, but all students, teachers, employees and anyone entering a building must wear a mask. Failure to comply for students means reassignment to “distance learning.” Adults who refuse to comply could face trespass charges for violating what is now a Palm Beach County School District policy.
Palm Beach County School District Superintendent Dr. Donald Fennoy says that — for now — masks will be optional when the 2021-2022 school year starts in early August, just seven weeks after this school year ends.
