DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach teenager is facing second degree murder and robbery with a firearm charges following a deadly shooting. Delray Beach Police investigators say Dieukenson Mirtil, 15, of SW 10th Avenue in Delray shot and killed Johnson St. Louis. Mirtil is a student Boca Raton Community High School.
The murder took place on May 19th. Mirtil was arrested on Thursday. The affidavit of probable cause was just released.
According to the report: “On May 19th, 2021, at approximately 23:29 hours, Delray Beach Police received a report of shots fired in the 800 block of SE 2nd Avenue. Responding officers found the victim, Johnson St. Louis, laying on his back in the roadway, in front of 802 SE 2nd Avenue. St. Louis suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg. St. Louis was in and out of consciousness and appeared to be in critical condition. St. Louis is Haitian and speaks with a Creole accent. Officers asked St. Louis who shot him and although officers initially believed his response was, “Deacon,” upon further review of officers’ body worn camera video, St. Louis stated, “DK.”
The report continues: “St. Louis said “DK” was a 14 year old Haitian male who lived behind Publix, and indicated the Publix at 1538 South Federal Highway. This Publix has a residential neighborhood behind it, to the northwest. Officers asked St. Louis if the suspected lived on Miami Blvd., he replied “no.” They then asked if he lived on Central Avenue and St. Louis responded “yes.” St. Louis had no wallet, phone, or keys in his pockets. When asked where his wallet was, St. Louis said, “he took it.” St. Louis advised “DK” was wearing black pants and a black jacket. Officers located five spent, .380 caliber shell casings on scene.”
St. Louis, according to police, was transported to Delray Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Also from the police report: “Investigators developed a suspect, 15-year-old Diukenson Mirtil, who resides on Miami Blvd. I contacted Boca Raton Community High School, which Mirtil attends, and spoke with the School Resource Officer and the Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal advised he has head Mirtil called “DK” by other students. We spoke with St. Louis’ mother, Betty St. Louis, who said St. Louis used her phone on May 17th to send text messages. She showed investigators the texts. They read: YO DK it’s Wizy bring my sh*t back G. (And another): Don’t fwm Nono after that G fr bring my sh*t zb.”
Police executed a search warrant in Mirtil’s home and say they found a Ruger .380 LCP handgun in a safe, as well as a letter from a law firm. He was later arrested and charged with second degree murder with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.
Mirtil was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail where he is being held without bond.
