BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Saturday afternoon declared a “State of Emergency” for Tropical Storm Elsa which may impact the peninsula on Monday or Tuesday. The storm was downgraded from Hurricane to Tropical Storm status earlier today.

As of late Saturday afternoon, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said the storm is still on a path for South Florida, but it’s unclear whether the impact will ultimately be Southwest Florida, including Fort Myers and Naples; Southeast Florida including Miami-Dade County, Broward County and Palm Beach County, or whether Elsa will move west and stay in the Gulf.

A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for the Florida Keys from
Craig Key westward to the Dry Tortugas.

The Government of Cuba has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the
provinces of Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, and
Cienfuegos, and a Tropical Storm Watch for the provinces of
Mayabeque and Havana.
