BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) (BREAKING AT 9:36A TUESDAY, JULY 13, 2021) — Embattled Palm Beach County School District Superintendent Donald Fennoy is resigning. He came under fire for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, alleged promises made to teachers, and other issues.
This is the message just transmitted school district wide:
”I’d like to thank you for the honor of serving as Superintendent and entrusting me with the profound responsibility of setting the benchmark for the education of your children. To me, there is no greater or more rewarding responsibility than helping children reach their full potential.
Since becoming Superintendent in 2018, I have been humbled by the dedication, perseverance, and resilience of your children. As a lifelong educator, I entered this field out of a passion to help students succeed; I have been rewarded by virtue of their accomplishment ever since.
Our District sets the benchmark for all that is great in public education. While I will always treasure my time here as superintendent, I have made the personal decision that it is time for me to step away.
Earlier today, I informed the School Board and our District’s outstanding principals that I will resign as Superintendent, effective October 11, 2021.
The decision to leave this honorable position was made after careful thought, discussion with my family, and self-reflection.
I am incredibly proud of the work that we have accomplished as a District, particularly over the past 15-months when we have collectively turned challenges into opportunities.
Please be assured that the high-quality education that your children have received will continue through the remainder of my time serving the District and well beyond.
While I will be leaving the District, the passion I have always felt for empowering our students is unwavering. I look forward to continuing to serve our amazing community in other ways while also spending more quality time with my family. Respectfully, Donald E. Fennoy II, Ed.D., Superintendent, School District of Palm Beach County.”
