A restaurant at Broken Sound Country Club in Boca Raton was cited by an inspector from Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Chocolate and Clorox were stored side-by-side.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — One of the restaurants needs fixing at Broken Sound in Boca Raton. At least that’s the claim of a health inspector with Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The “Pool Bistro” at 2401 Willow Springs Drive received four “high priority” violations when it was inspected on July 16th. Two “intermediate” violations were recorded as well. Among the items of concern: Clorox being stored next to chocolate.

This is the official language from the DBPR report:

High Priority – Toxic substance/chemical improperly stored….clorox , all purpose cleaner spray bottles stored next to chocolate and sugar at front server station. Employee moved. Corrected On-Site Warning

High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit…..butter 52°, cream cheese 54°, cheese cake 51°, whipped cream 50°, cream cheese 52° , cut tomatoes 59° in glass door reach in cooler at front yogurt area. Food being held more than four hours. Stop sale issue . Employee discarded food. …. chicken salad, 45°, egg salad 48°, tuna salad 46° in flip top reach in cooler at salad station at kitchen. Food being held less than four hours. Employee time marked on food Cheese 45°, turkey 46°, ham 45°, butter 45° in walk in cooler. Chef stated that door was opened for delivery that’s made temperature high . Food being held less than four hours. Chef opened inside walk in freezer door to cool down food. Corrective Action Taken Repeat Violation Warning

High Priority – Stop Sale issued on time/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse…. High Priority – Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area…3 flies flying around and landing on the counter at expo line . 2 live flies flying around at prep room . Operator provided table stand fan to eliminate. Warning

Intermediate – Food-contact surface soiled with food debris, mold-like substance or slime….can opener blade at prep station. Employee moved. Corrected On-Site Warning

Intermediate – No written procedures available for use of time as a public health control to hold time/temperature control for safety food…provided from to operator. Warning

The violations were cleared during a follow-up inspection the next day.
