DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach Police Officer has been arrested on charges of arson and perjury.

This advisory was just issued by the Delray Beach Police Department:

“Delray Beach Police Officer Dallas Richardson was arrested tonight after turning himself in at the Palm Beach County jail.  He faces charges of 2nd degree arson and perjury.

On March 29, 2020 Officer Richardson called the Boynton Beach police department to report his 2017 Chevy Tahoe stolen.

Earlier that morning, a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy found the SUV burning on Lake Ida Road near Military Trail. The license plate was missing and vehicle identification number (VIN) had been removed.

An arson investigator was called to the scene and determined that an accelerant had been used to set the vehicle on fire.

During the investigation, Richardson was interviewed twice.  The investigator said there were multiple inconsistencies with his statements. The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s office issued a warrant for his arrest. Officer Richardson joined the Delray Beach Police Department March 2019.  He has been on paid administrative leave during the investigation.”
