With the new cases comes new deaths. While Florida only reported 7 deaths on Monday, reality is a different story. Florida changed its reporting method to backdate deaths to “date of death” instead of the date the death is reported to the state. That has the effect of making it appear there are few current deaths while numbers rise over previous weeks.
For that reason, we’ll provide the month-so-far number which shows 1,076 deaths over the past 16 days.
Florida has logged a total of 41,130 deaths since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
The seven day rolling positivity remains at 20 percent in Florida. In Palm Beach County, HHS says it is 21.98 percent as of August 16th, 2021.
