BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School District is expected to report 3,000 COVID-19 infections later Monday. As the day starts, 2,910 cases are confirmed.

The school district is rapidly approaching the total case count reached during the entire 2020-2021 school year. The year ended with 3,855 cases. More likely than not, that number will be hit within the next week.

Of the 2,910 confirmed cases early Monday, 2,472 are listed as student cases, while 438 are infected employees. It is believed at least 4,000 students and employees are under “stay home” directives, the school district’s equivalent of a quarantine. Students under “stay home” directives have no access to “live” learning — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis prohibited a repeat of last year’s distance learning. Students are only permitted to download work, complete it on their own, and hope that their teacher voluntarily offers assistance after hours.

We are publishing the entire school district case count, below. Note that the school district reports roughly three days behind real-time due to a lag between cases being reported and verified.
