Chops Boca Raton is closed by order of a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Chops failed multiple inspections this week.

UPDATE 3:36 PM Thursday, January 6th, 2022: After several days, the State of Florida permitted Chops to reopen, but says a follow up inspection is required.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Chops Lobster Bar in East Boca Raton, considered one of the area’s nicest restaurants, is closed after failing three inspections by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The problems started on Monday when an inspector logged three “high priority” violations, five “intermediate” violations, and seven “Basic” violations. A follow-up inspection on Tuesday yielded more violations, as did a third inspection — also on Tuesday.

Chops, at 101 Plaza Real South, is now closed until further notice.

“High Priority – – From initial inspection : High Priority – Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area. Approximately 5 live flies on wall at bread station Approximately 5 live flies in cloth napkins wrapping water pitchers Approximately 5 live flies inside bag of bread Approximately 20 live flies at dirty glass racks in dish area separate from kitchen – From follow-up inspection 2022-01-04: Approximately 3 live flies at walls in bread station separate from kitchen Approximately 5 live flies on walls in dish area separate from kitchen Approximately 3 live flies on wall at entrance to dining room from dish area 2 live flies on wall at entrance to bread station from dining room 2 live flies at side bar area next to cold production area **Time Extended** – From follow-up inspection 2022-01-04: Observed one flying insects in dish area on utensils. Operator killed. Observed 5 flying insects at bar area around soda gun. **Admin Complaint**”
