BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Boynton Beach Police Department tells BocaNewsNow.com that detectives arrested Merlyn Torres-Harper and charged him with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under age 12.
The police department provided BocaNewsNow.com with the narrative of the arrest report:
“On the above date and time the Boynton Beach Police Department was dispatched to Bethesda Memorial Hospital for a sexual battery involving a 10 year old victim. An officer arrived to the hospital and met with the victim and her mother. The mother stated that on 01/03/2022, she observed a hickey on the victim’s neck and became concerned. The mother then asked the victim how she got the hickey. The victim told her mother that her 20 year old Merlyn Torres-Harper whom had been staying with them for
several months, had given her the hickey, the previous night. The victim also said that Torres-Harper had inappropriately touched her on several occasions. Once the mother discovered this information, she confronted Torres-Harper. Torres-Harper neither confirmed nor denied what happened but said that he would depart from the residence and that they would never hear from him again.
Based upon the situation, the mother decided to take the victim to the hospital for a medical evaluation, the following day. A fact finding interview was then conducted with the victim, who disclosed that Torres-Harper had kissed her on her neck and touched her on her private area in her bedroom approximately twelve times.
The victim said that the most recent incident had occurred the previous day.
After Torres-Harper was confronted, the mother received several text messages from Torres-Harper apologizing for what he had done to the victim and her family. A controlled phone call was then conducted between Torres-Harper and the mother. During the phone call, Torres-Harper admitted to performing oral sex on the victim on five occasions.
Based upon the fact finding interview, coupled with the admission made by Torres-harper, an emergency CPT was scheduled. During the CPT, the victim said that Torres-Harper had licked her “private” and “butt” area while she was unclothed in her bedroom more then once. The victim pointed to her vaginal area when describing it as her private area. The victim also said that Torres-Harper touched her on top of her clothing on her private. The victim said that Torres-Harper told her not to tell anyone or that he
would go to jail.
It was later discovered that Torres-Harper was possibly hiding within Caloosa Park. Officers responded to the park and located Torres-Harper on the North side of the park and arrested him. Torres-Harper was then transported to the police department and was interviewed. In a Post Miranda statement Torres-Harper confessed to performing oral sex on the victims vagina and anus on
five occasions. Torres-harper also confessed to touching the victims private area above her clothing. Torres-Harper was subsequently charged with Sexual Battery and Lewd and Lascivious on a victim less then 12 years of age.”
