BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The overnight grounding of a barge near Deerfield Beach is leading to a just-announced (10:13 a.m.) closure of beaches in Boca Raton.

The City of Boca Raton just issued the following advisory: “Due to a barge and tugboat that have breached the shores of South Beach between Deerfield and City of Boca Raton city limits, the beach between Osceola Drive to the Deerfield pier will be CLOSED until further notice.”

The United States Coast Guard started working the problem overnight. The barge came ashore in the area of Deerfield Beach earlier today.

This is a developing story… check back for updates concerning the beach closures.
