UPDATE: 5:39 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022: Police just issued the following statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “Delray Beach police responded to shooting Saturday afternoon at an apartment complex in the 200-block of Congress Park Drive. Officers learned that a woman had been shot by her husband. Police located the victim at the hospital. Her husband, Darius Ashley, was arrested shortly after leaving the hospital parking lot. Ashley faces a charge of attempted murder.  Anyone with additional information about this crime is asked to call Detective Vickery at 561-243-7805.”

UPDATE at 5:05 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022: We have learned from someone close to the situation that the victim is NOT dead, despite the “homicide” charge filed. The victim, we are told, “is in extremely critical condition.” We are also told this was domestic in nature. Police, however, have still not issued an official statement more than 24 hours after the incident.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Sunday shooting at what used to be known as the Alta Apartments on Congress Avenue in Delray Beach has led to one arrest. The complex is now known as “Congress Grove.”

While the Delray Beach Police Department has notably not confirmed the incident after requests for information from BocaNewsNow.com, sources tell us that one person was killed and Darius Ashley was arrested following the mid-day shooting that led to a large police and fire-rescue response. (In a late Monday afternoon update, BocaNewsNow.com was told by someone close to the situation that while the victim is in “extremely critical” condition, she is not dead.

Ashley is now being held in the Palm Beach County Jail on one count of homicide without premeditation. He was locked up at 8:18 p.m. Sunday.

The property is now known by its new name of 250 Congress Park Drive.
