BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you smell smoke today or this evening while outside, don’t worry about it. There is a controlled burn underway.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says that fire management officials at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge are conducting a controlled burn of roughly 8,000 to 10,000 acres. This is normal activity.
If your house is on fire, call the fire department. If your car is on fire, call the fire department. But if you just smell smoke in the air from west, it’s almost assuredly nothing to worry about.
Fire officials says wind is primarily blowing from the east, so it’s unlikely that the burn will noticeable across most of Palm Beach County.
